Tell us a bit about your business and why you decided to set up shop in Trenton.
Wish Home Interiors is a furniture and home decor store located on Front Street in Trenton. We also offer in-home decorating consultations. We provide very unique and beautiful pieces, many of which are Canadian-made. I absolutely love Trenton, and the business culture here is very supportive, so it felt like the right fit to open my business.
How has the community been supportive of your entrepreneurial journey?
The support from the community has been overwhelming. We recently moved into a new and improved space on Front Street from our old location right around the corner, and our customers have been excited and supportive of this big move. We see a lot of recurring customers, which is such a good feeling, and we are honored by the positive word-of-mouth we continue to receive.
In your own words, describe what it’s like to be a part of the Downtown Community.
It has been great to be a part of this downtown community! I’ve had a very welcoming experience from other business owners, especially with this big move. They’re always willing to share ideas and lend a helping hand. I couldn’t ask for more. Special thanks to Taylor at The Grind, The Counter, Tomasso’s, and all the Front Street businesses who have made this move such an incredible experience.
I also have a fabulous team that believes in what we do, which makes all the difference.
What can we look forward to from your business in the coming months?
We are currently excited about expanding into home staging. We’re also diving into commercial decorating and expanding our brand. We’ll continue to bring you the best in home decor from local and Canadian makers each month.
What do you enjoy doing in Quinte West and the surrounding area on your days off?
I spend a lot of the time that I do get off in both Quinte West and Belleville. I love the outdoor component of this community and try to spend as much time outdoors as I can. I also enjoy boating on the Bay of Quinte and exploring the trails. Lastly, I try to support as many local businesses as I can. We’re guilty of having lunch at The Counter a couple of times a week, as we absolutely love their food!
What are your favorite local businesses to support?
All of them!! Not only do we have so many amazing businesses, each specializing in their own industries, but the people are amazing. It really does feel like a supportive community.
On Wednesdays, we do lunch at The Counter. Sometimes it becomes more than just a day! We love our desserts from The Grind and the chocolate cake from These 4 Walls. I also try to send as many people as I can to the local flower shops like Blush Floral, especially if they’re looking for arrangements to brighten up their homes.
Final Thoughts: Why should people make Downtown Trenton a destination to explore?
You will be welcomed with open arms by any of these downtown businesses. We have a wide variety of stores that focus on specific interests and host events that really allow you to connect and learn something new. It truly is a welcoming atmosphere that I feel everyone should experience. You are also supporting local businesses, which is incredibly important!
